Community & Economic
Development

Our heart is in our communities

Lake Agassiz Development Group provides a variety of community development and planning services to townships, cities and counties throughout North Dakota. We assist local governments with grant applications and help communities coordinate infrastructure development for water, sewer, storm sewer and flood control projects and industrial development.

Available Real Estate

Check out the region’s commercial properties on our layered mapping tool that offers intuitive search functions including property sizes and proximity to assets like airports and incentive zones.

The commercial real estate market in the region is not only strong but responsive to the needs and demands of existing and prospective commercial and industrial operators. This is backed up and evidenced by the record setting investment into new commercial, residential, and industrial development.

Planning Services

LADG has provided planning services to local governments for more than 50 years. We can assist at every stage in the process: convening stakeholders, facilitating meetings and events, collecting data through surveys and secondary sources, writing reports and plans, and crafting implementation strategies.

Our services can support local governments with topics including economic development, diversification strategies, multi-hazard mitigation planning, main street revitalization, housing, tourism and recreation, and community branding and marketing. Our assistance is provided on a fee for service basis. As a US Department of Commerce-designated Economic Development District (EDD), the Lake Agassiz Regional Council (LARC) is responsible for preparing the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The CEDS is required to be updated every five years and maintains the region’s eligibility for grants from the US Economic Development Administration.

Rural Housing Development

We partner with small communities to build quality homes that local workers can afford.

Businesses cannot grow if their employees have nowhere to live, which is why we treat housing as a key part of our local economy. We work specifically with towns of fewer than 20,000 people to find donated land and secure the funding needed to build or fix up homes. By handling the complicated financing and coordinating with builders, we make it easier and less risky to create new places for families to call home.

Senior Living

In cooperation with local investors, LARDC has developed four senior housing facilities in Wahpeton, Lisbon, Hope and Page.

These facilities provide seniors an opportunity to find comfortable housing while remaining in their communities.
